Monthly Nia at The Salisbury Centre, Edinburgh
Saturday 18th February
10.30am-12noon
This is a 1.5hour workshop which will focus each month on a different aspect of the Nia technique
Experienced Nia dancers and those new to it can experience and dance together.

Pilates classes at Murrayfield Parish Church
Booking for January is now open
Classes will run on Monday evenings from 9th January for 10 weeks except 23rd January
Class schedule as follows:-
4.45pm-5.30 Wise Moves- a slower class for the wiser mover
5.30-6.30- Intermediate 2- a faster class for those with experience wishing to increase strength and endurance
6.30-7.30- Intermediate 1- a class for those moving on from 1or more terms at beginner level.
7.30-8.30pm- complete beginners.
Classes cost £75 for ten weeks except wise moves which is a shorter class £56.25

Please be aware that once a place is booked no refunds are available
Courses are not suitable for pregnant women unless they have been practicing Pilates prior to their pregnancy
By signing up for a course participants are delaring that they have no medical condition that might prevent them from participating in an excercise class. That is they do not suffer from any of the folowing:- Spinal disc herniations, spondylosis, spondylolysthesis, spondylosis, high blood pressure, or osteoporosis. If classes have to be cancelled due to staff illness a class will be added at the end.
If classes have to be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control such as venue closure or weather conditions unfortunatley we are unable to reshcedule or refund.

NIA CLASSES
In December last year about 6months after my right total hip replacement, I attended the White Belt Nia technique intensive training. It was a brilliant experience and I am looking forward to bring Nia technique to everyone out there!

POSTURE, BREATHING, STRETCHING, MASSAGE AND PILATES BASED EXERCISE
With pilates 1-2-1 being popular, I am now offering a package tailored to the individual, giving postural feedback, breathing, exercise, massage and relaxation.
The exercise will be based on pilates because I believe it is the best and most useful to allow everyone to look and feel the best they can.
Tailoring it to the individual means that the person has the time and a real chance to understand their own body and the patterns of use that give them aches and pains and lower their energy. With time and learning energy increases and you can look and feel good.
The massage, as always, will be focused on areas of tension. The techniques used are the revitalising acupressure or relaxing aromatherapy, along with myofascial release.
This coupled with the increased awareness of pilates exercise only adds to its benefits.
A relaxation session completes the package.
The whole package will last around 2.5 hours.
An introductory offer allows you to take advantage of this for only £50 per session
Developments from this will include a relaxation and exercise CD.
A regular class will hopefully be possible for people who want to continue having regular sessions of pilates based exercise, breathing and relaxation

1-2-1 or 1-2-2 PILATES BASED EXERCISE AND STRETCHING
- They would suit people who want to become more aware of their posture and how to achieve the best use and posture possible.
- They will learn how use of the body and posture are linked.
- They will learn stretches specific to their body before exercises.
- They will learn how use and posture affect the whole-being on a physical,mental and emotional level.
- They will learn how the body is connected on a physical, mental and emotional level.
- The slow controlled exercises pay attention to detail and focus on position to balancemuscle groups
- We focus on learning to only use the effort necessary in a movement combined with relaxation and breathing
- Last but not least the sessions move in a client lead direction so each may have a different focus

INTRODUCING METAMORPHIC TECHNIQUE
I have just completed my first weekend workshop in this fascinating subject and powerful yet gentle technique.
My own journey of self-development and healing lead me to begin studying.
I first read about it in Debbie Shapiro’s book Healing Mind, Healing Body.
Unlike any other holistic work on body mind or spirit that I have experience in, it is not done with intent, claim
or expectation. It does not work on the principle of cause and effect. It simply allows the client’s own life force energy to bring about transformation of long held patterns that may be holding them back form their true potential and greatest good.
The theory is that traumas that take place from even before conception are held within the memory of
every cell in the body. These can cause blockages to achieving the best you can be.
The very gentle movements follow the spinal reflex areas on the feet hands and head.
This area is thought to correspond to the time line from preconception to birth.
As this is done you may become aware of energy moving in your body perhaps as tingling or heat. You
may feel nothing and that is ok.
Some people report noticing flu like symptoms, tearfulness, tiredness, and or a change in their reaction
to a circumstance or a change in eating patterns. These are most likely after a few sessions.
The number of sessions a person has is entirely up to
the individual.
- Each sessions last about an hour. This includes 20 minutes on each foot, 5-10 on each hand and
finishes on the head.
- It can be done anywhere but is most comfortable on a couch.
The practitioner is not trying to cause or influence any outcome but is merely spending time performing the technique. Indeed the more detached the practitioner is the better his or her technique!
I am looking for volunteers to help me further my study.
